NDI

National Dance Institute (NDI) is a non-profit arts education organization founded in 1976 by ballet star Jacques d’Amboise. Through school partnerships, after-school classes, public performances, and teaching artist trainings, NDI uses dance as a catalyst to engage children and motivate them toward excellence both in school and in life.

NDI works with over 6,500 students each week in partner schools throughout New York City. An NDI teaching team of two dance teaching artists and a musician lead a rigorous and joyful dance class each week during school hours. Students hone their creative thinking, are encouraged to express themselves, and learn original choreography inspired by a curricular theme. Previous themes have included "Voices of Change," "Rivers," "Harlem," "Poetry," and more! In a culminating celebration, students perform their dances to the entire school community and their families.

The National Dance Institute Center for Learning & the Arts at 217 W. 147th Street in Harlem provides dance classes to the community and advanced scholarship programs for invited dancers from our partner schools. Students from PS 7 have participated in NDI programs at the NDI Center each year.

NDI has partnered with PS 7 since 2013 and works with the 4th and 5th grade classes.
